This really sounds cool, but I'm having a hard time getting it to work. I flick to view finder and it occasionally will say what is near, but, for example, if I hold a dollar bill up it may say "currency" after a bit. As I walk around the room it may say "curtain and glass door" but I can't figure out how to hold or point it to make it more consistent. Any thoughts. Thanks. God bless! You open the camera app and then you move VoiceOver focus to the view finder, which is at the top of the screen. This is how clueless I am, but I was looking for a screen recording I’d just done, and not knowing where else to look, I brought up the camera app. While I was exploring the camera app, I heard it announcing things like no people, keyboard, … I realized it was telling me what was on my desk! After playing around, I found out that if you move focus to the top to the view finder, the camera app will read text to you and identify objects. I ran downstairs to show my wife, and I heard it say “cat on a flat surface with a laptop and a glass with a beverage”. I was pointing it at my kitchen table which had our cat on it, waiting to be fed, my wife’s laptop and her glass of sparkling water!
