I also tried this with Bluetooth off and with earbuds, but still, Voiceover in the background is way, way soft.
Thanks, got headphones set. -----Original Message----- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Feliciano Godoy Sent: Thursday, September 15, 2022 5:54 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: My update woe for today. Hi, I’m curious what your hearing aids are configured as under Bluetooth settings on your iPhone. I know the behavior of speakers and headphones change if a speaker is set to headphones via its configuration so thought I would bring that up. You can go to iPhone settings, Bluetooth settings, find your hearing aids and swipe up to find more info double tap, and then choose device type. I would try to set them as headphones, if not other and see if that changes anything. If anything, play with the different settings. Once I shut my phone down, brought it back up, and it seemed better. So, that is exactly what I did, only when bringing it up, no Voiceover. Jim tried to help me, but we were in a mess. I called Apple Accessibility and got a magically helpful lady named Angela. With her thinking out of the box, we finally got it back; I had to tell Jim what to punch in for my passcode. Then, VOILA, along came Voiceover. It happened that I had Screen Curtain on, so I turned it off, and Jim could see that it looked all right. So I had to punch my 24-character Apple ID, finally got it back. She got us to press Power Button and Volume Down to try to get it back on. That did work. Actually, then, we waited quite a long time, before bringing the phone back up. I think she realized that probably my phone was on, but that I did not know it, so turn off, then give good wait, and bring it up again. I don’t know what would have happened if Jim hadn’t been here and willing to fool with it. I told her that the Voiceover sound not being easily heard had been a problem for some time, which was the reason that I turned my phone off. It is working now, even Evan came back. I’ve heard some say that their phone defaulted to Samantha. Incidentally, while in this pickle, I called the phone from our landline. It rang, but, I could not answer it. I have just tried with earbuds with Bluetooth off, and stil have to struggle to hear anything on the screen while on a call. Such are some of the vagaries of iOS 16. -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list.
