Yes, Richard makes a good point, Siri dictation is much too unreliable to have automatically sent turned on; and this is easily found where Richard said: Settings > Siri and Search although I think this is a new setting in iOS 16 so if you haven't upgraded you may not have it.
It is absolutely essential to check your message for spelling mistakes and not even just that since sometimes Siri decides to put very bad words in messages or whatever else you are dictating. I once sent a message and it contained something like "we received a bunch of new backpacks" and Siri inserted "we received a bunch of new back fucks"; it would have been extremely embarrassing if that had been sent and I honestly don't understand people who have a signature where they state that they use Siri and to excuse any mistakes, of course they deliberately misspell this as well and I don't really find it funny nor is being blind and using dictation an excuse.
