As I understand it, they use the Find My app, which is totally accessible. As Sieghard says, you are the only one who can say if you need them. I personally don't need to spend $30 for one little tag to track anything. Perhaps if I travelled a lot and wanted to track my luggage, but even then, in all the traveling I did when I was younger, my bags were only lost once, and air tags wouldn't have helped since they ended up on a later flight and were delivered to the hotel the next morning.
