I looked these up on Amazon Canada where they cost $29.99 Canadian, interestingly enough no talk about a sale price whereas on Amazon.com they are listed for $39.99 regular and on sale for $19.99. Anyways, for once the Canadian price is more or less the same given the current exchange rate. I just ordered a pair of these as well since I had my old ones for several years and the battery doesn't last as long any more and I like the fact these charge via USB since I am slowly trying to replace all my gadgets with stuff which is USB-C. The control unit wit th e3 buttons sounds identical and I somewhat agree with one reviewer on Amazon Canada who said it is a bit difficult to adjust the volume by small steps since the volume up and down buttons are also skip and rewind and a single press is skip/rewind rather than volumen up/down. In order to change the volume you have to press and hold the button, but I find after doing this a few times you get used to it pretty easily. Mark, one test, if you push and hold the volume up button until it gets as loud as it can, is there a tone indicating you have reached the maximum volume? Mine have this and unfortunately the tone they chose is a very loud beep. I remember once I was almost asleep and I must have somehow pushed against the volume up button and next thing I startled awake because I had this loud beep in my ear. At first I thought it was a low battery beep, but fortunately at least that was not the case.

I had to have my original beloved 8 Plus replaced, about a month prior to its warranty expiration because the audio function of the Lightening port went bad. For the last 6-months or so, perhaps longer, while the Lightening port on my replacement 8 Plus still functioned as expected, it lost the ability to retain a cable, unassisted. This is to say, when I hold the phone in portrait mode, perpendicular to the ground, any attached cable will fall out. I am certain that I was the blame for this as I used to frequently roll onto the phone, when sleeping; very often tangling the cable with tension for hours at a time. With that in mind, I am doing my best to wing myself from the wired Ear Pods in favor of Apple Air Pods. Even though I like Air Pods and they are definitely more convenient to use than the wired alternative, I still find myself reaching for the wired pair, more than anything else. I was just wondering how many of you have gone completely wireless having all but abandoned the wired Ear Pods? It is interesting because when I go to Best Buy, Target, Walmart, etc. I always see wired Ear Pods, with either the Lightening or audio connector, readily available. All replies appreciated.
