Hi Duane, 
What  I do is tell Siri, turn on Do Not Disturb; then turn off do not disturb 
when I'm done. The new settings for Do Not Disturb is under Focus and for what 
you are talking about, I find it easier to just use Siri. 
I suspect some kind of a routine could be set up that when x app is open, do 
not disturb comes on. iam not sure.
