Do a search on Applevis, I'm sure there will be some articles or tutorials there. Having said this, I tried it and personally don't care for it very much. In my opinion widgets may be fantastic for people with functioning eyeballs, but I just don't like the way a widget takes up at least the space of two apps on my home screen. On the Today screen it's somewhat OK, not too bad for things like battery status especially if you have an iPhone and Apple Watch as well as maybe a headset or other device which communicates its battery level back to the iPhone.
