Hello All, I'm posting this because I think it is a marvelous feature for those who may want to translate text into a different language before sending the text to someone.
First, keep in mind that I am referring to text that you have entered into a edit field; for example in a text message. I am not referring to text that you have received from someone or that may appear in an app or web page. Second, the method that follows assumes that you do not have a foreign language keyboard installed on your device. Third, it's a good idea to launch Apple's native Translate app, at least once, before attempting to use this feature. Okay, here is the scenario: You are a native English speaker and you want to send a text message to someone who speaks Japanese. Instead of depending upon the recipient to translate the text, you prefer, instead, to translate your English text into Japanese, before sending it and you want to do it from within the Messages app. To accomplish this: 1. >From within the Messages app, enter your text into the appropriate edit field. 2. Single finger-double tap and hold anywhere in the edit field until you hear the VoiceOver activation prompt. 3. Now using the single finger swipe right to left or left to right gesture, locate and activate the "Select All" option". 4. Now using the single finger swipe right to left or left to right gesture, locate and activate the "Translate" option. A dialog box will appear near the bottom half of the display that has some pretty amazing options including one that will allow you to replace your English text, in the edit field, with the translated text.
