Sorry, I should mention one exception where I find I get pretty good results with an app. I have a thermostat controlling the in-floor heating in the kitchen and here interestingly enough I get the best results using Tap Tap See, if I aim the camera well I usually get something like "White Digital Thermostat showing 26 degrees or whatever the temperature is set as. Interestingly enough other apps like Seeing AI don't give me anything.
