You can buy wired headphones which cost that much and you can actually buy dedicated Digital-to-Analogue headphone amplifiers which cost that much, but with such a Wi-Fi headset which supports lossless audio (which no level of Bluetooth does, not even Apples fancy over the ear headphones) you get the convenience along with the quality and this is where Sonos of course comes in. Of course you can get better Hi-Fi systems than let's say a stereo pair of Sonos Five speakers with a wireless Sub which for 2-channel stereo music is about as good as it gets for Sonos at a price tag of about $2,300 Canadian, but actually for that price point Sonos doesn't rank so bad at all and you simply can't compare it with a $20K or $30K system or even a $5K system made up of a set of good satellites, a good powered Sub and a good power amp. I look forward to what I assume will be Era 500 speakers which Sonos may release later this year or next year. Since the Sonos Five has been around for a while especially if you consider it's not much of an upgrade from the Play 5 Second Generation, I am quite sure an update speaker will be coming especially since they just released the Era 100 which will replace the Sonos One and the new Era 300 which really is meant primarily as a rear speaker in a surround setup with a Sonos Arc sound bar and one or two of their Sonos Subs. It has the drivers which fire sideways and up to generate a better Dolby Atmos experience and it is indeed quite nice; we got our Era 300s a couple of weeks ago and now that Apple Music Atmos is supported from within the Sonos app even their spacial music sounds quite nice. I listened to the song "Lavender Haze" by Taylor Swift the other day as well as the new remastered Pink Floyd album "Dark Side of the Moon" and it's pretty impressive.

I’m into 2ch stereo and head-fi and believe you can get more for your dollar in terms of sonics elsewhere. I would totally spend $600 or $800 on a Sonos Headset, but I draw the line at $2,199 and since this is a Tech Radar article that means it is in US Dollars so probably about $3,000 Canadian. -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list.
