Well Ms. Arnold; I have to ask, exactly what did you do to place an Emoji into 
your text?

I assume you were in the “Message area” of the text when you tried to include 
an Emoji.  And, of course, you activated the “Emoji button.”

At that point, you would select the Emoji(s) you wanted to include in your 
message and double tap each one as it was selected.  You should have found said 
Emojis were included in you text.

BTW: Emojis can be included in any of the “text edit fields” one might 
encounter on an iPhone.  I use them quite liberally in Notes, Mail (😇) and 
other apps that deploy the on-screen keyboard.
