I just got a 14 Pro and so far I haven't had much use for the Dynamic
island. It doesn't work unless an app has been designed by the
developer to be accessed through the island.
Apple Vis has a podcast that goes over it a bit. The podcast number is
1484, or you can just search for Dynamic Island and find the link for
the specific podcast. It did seem to be accessible in the podcast, but
again, it's a fairly new addition to the phone.
