I like my experience so far on iOS 17. The extra vibrations take some
getting used to, but I found that I liked the extra feedback. My
double tap speed was affected a little, but I changed the amount of
time VoiceOver waits for the double tap gesture at the bottom of VO
settings, and things are working much better. I also like that I can
choose whether to be notified by sound or vibration, or speech when a
new notification comes in. Having VoiceOver automatically read back
the notification in 16, when it was done speaking the selected item,
worked good. However, I like now that it just plays a sound and has
the vibration, but doesn't interrupt what I'm doing. Then, if I want
to see what the notification was, I can check the status bar or go to
the notification center.
The one thing I will say that I don't like in 17 is the emoji
keyboard. In 16, when I switched to the emoji keyboard when writing, I
was able to view my 30 most recent emojis used. Now, there is text on
the far left of the emoji keyboard which talks about stickers, and
then the recent emojis start about halfway along the keyboard. What I
don't like is there does not appear to be a way to dismiss or close
the sticker message, and that it moves the existing emojis over. I
contacted Apple Accessibility a few nights ago to let them know.
Through a screen share, the agent was able to see my issue. Though he
acknowledged it, and understood there was no way to close the message,
he could not give an estimation of when it would be fixed. I suggested
there could be an option in the Messages Settings to close or show the
stickers item, like there are now toggles in iMessage to turn on or
off different iMessage apps. I asked if he would pass my feedback to
the team which handles that aspect, and he indicated he would. I can
live with the change, but it does seem odd that there are close or
dismiss buttons in many other places throughout iOS but not with
stickers.
There may be a few things which are annoying, but over all, I have no
regrets since updating. I think that iOS 17 makes the over all feel
and experience a lot smoother.

All the best,
Wayne
