VoiceOver works really well with the crossword puzzles. At least in 17.1, they worked really good. I have filed a bug report with iOS 17.2 already so hopefully it will get fixed. I recommend choosing list view. This way you can get at the clues easier than you can in grid view. VoiceOver will let you go from one space to another by swiping to the right. For example, if you have a clue that has four letters, you will actually see five spaces instead of four. The first one lets you solve the word by typing it in. If you need to correct a letter, You can swipe to that letter you want to correct and double tap on it and replace it with the letter you meant to type in. You have crossword mini and a full crossword. The New York Times is cheaper than Apple News Plus, but last I checked, it was not accessible. Hope this helps.
