I just opened my Apple Magsafe pad. It appears the only way the pad can charge my iPhone would be for me to remove the case from the phone. I have a silicone slip case I purchased from Apple.

The actual strength of the charger is not even that much which you can check by sticking any steel object to it, I just happened to have a 4-inch #2 Roberts screw driver bit sitting here and while it sticks to the Belkin MagSafe charging stand I have, it is not a strong attachment. But along with the magnets in the iPhone (on compatible models), the attachment is relatively secure. I love how MagSafe chargers work and would never go back to anything else and I only use a cable if I don’t have any other choice. If somebody who has an iPhone SE wants to use MagSafe then it is certainly completely safe and OK to buy a MagSafe compatible case and use it that way.
