Hi Kelly,   The App is only necessary for Wi-Fi  setup. After that, if you have either an Alexa device, Google device, or the Alexa app, you can do everything by voice commands. I'm totally blind, and use a previous model with our Sonos speakers or Echo device. My wife set it up, but she also mostly uses voice commands. If it gets off line, which ours did after a power outage, she had to help get it reconnected, but I did the final step through the app. We should be getting the two burner one tomorrow which has a slightly bigger basket than our current one, plus not having to flip food. I have the same model and have noticed where the second bottom element makes a huge difference is in the fact that you don't have to turn stuff over. For example, we just made a batch of mini eggrolls and they came out perfectly cooked and crispy all the way around. They honestly seemed like they had been deep fried. They were delicious and better in this air fryer than in any other we have had. I really didn't notice that much difference in cooking time however.
