Hi Alison,  I guess we're dealing with differences between UK versus American English words. I haven't followed this entire thread but the messages I've read seem to have nothing to do with backdating.    For those having issues with your double taps not executing since upgrading to iOS 17, go to Settings, Accessibility, VoiceOver, and go to the bottom of the screen to double tap time-out. I believe the iOS 17 upgrade reset this time to .25 seconds which requires a pretty fast double tap to execute.
