Hi Rena,  I'll add to Robert's triple post and hopefully provide something helpful. He provided the steps to open the notifications area which I'm assuming you're already getting. In order to delete notifications that are listed in that area on your home screen, place focus on the one you wish to delete, single finger swipe up on the screen and the first thing you hear should be Clear at which you can single finger double tap the screen to execute the Clear.  If you wish to change how notifications are presented, go to Settings, Notifications and explore the various options there.
