The radio station might have made a change at their end, updated their Web site, and such. Things like this happen now and then, even if infrequently, leading to breaks in the chain. Contact them and let them know that Alexa isn't recognising the station  any more.

This week for whatever reason Alexa ceased to connect to the local public radio stream, even though Alexa has made the connection for years. I  typically opened the stream by asking Alexa to play KUHF, which are the station’s call letters. That’s no longer possible. Alexa repeats incorrect call letters and states the connection is not available. More happily, I can ask Alexa  to play “Houston Public Media” and the device will play the stream. I cannot imagine where and why the error now occurs in the Alexa, Tune In, and other involved systems. Arg!

Yep. I actually think all of these assistance are getting stupider, including Google. All that AI they’re supposedly using certainly hasn’t made its way to my Google assistant, which is now unable to answer really simple questions like for instance when is the first Los Angeles Dodgers spring training game of 2024? You’d think it would know that with all of its massive AI capability or just look at a database. But no. And it’s not alone. Alexa didn’t know it either. Siri did. Surprise!

Folks often talk about Siri being stupid, well, this morning Alexa
showed that it could be equally stupid, if not more so.

I use it mostly on our Sonos system.

I make tea and coffee every morning for my wife and I.  I have two
timers created, Carol’s timer, and Richard’s timer.

This morning when I said “Alexa start Carol’s timer” it responded
with “getting family Christmas Carol’s from SamSung … I’m having
trouble communicating with Samsung…”  (Samsung is our TV.

I tried again, and it said, “I’m having trouble, kitchen seems to
be off line, check the connection and try again.”  Well, it
couldn’t tell me that if it was offline.

The third an final time it said;, “The history of salt …” at which
    point I said Alexa stop!.

I then set the tea timer on our microwave and made my coffee and
set my timer on my Apple watch.

My speech is not unclear.  I don’t’ know what Alexa was taking,
but it sure scrambled its brains this morning.
