I use Google Maps for this.
I like google maps since it is fairly easy to check your route whether you use
the preview route or start it for real.
But, the idea of previewing the route is something I stumbled on recently when
I just tried it to see what would happen.
For example, I am in Portland, Oregon.
I write the following in the Quiry edit box at the top of the Google Maps app:
>From 430 Willamette Dr. Eugene Oregon to Shakespeare theater in Ashland Oregon
Then, double tap the search button in the lower right.

Start back near the top and you will find the various modes of transportation,
for me Driving is selected, but you could select walking, transit, etc.
A little above the bottom of the screen is the Preview Route button.
Double tap that.
At the top will be the first step: Head southwest toward on Pimlico Dr toward
treetop ln, adjustable.
when you hear adjustable you know you can simply flick up on that spot to get
the next step.
You can walk through all the turns and such this way.
When done, double tap on the back button as many times as it takes to get back
to the main screen.

Subject: Navigation App Providing Virtual Explore

by which I mean being able to set an beginning and end route in a location
other than your current location. If you know of such a navigation app, please
let me know. And if it's tricky, how to initiate the virtual explore feature.
Thanks for all help.
