I have 16 pro. While in phone, mail, and many other apps, I can just touch the top corner of the screen and there is the battery percentage. And of course, when on the home screen, or oy the charger. Or, is your dynamic island very large and masking it? I did not change the dynamic island size, so I don't know. You can also ask Siri, "what's the battery level?"
