Joe, It is not normal for a phone to reboot multiple times in a week. If in fact it is saying that the passcode is required because of a boot, then I suggest you get in touch with Apple support to have them retrieve logs or else do a reset of parts of your phone (look in settings General) and start with network. I’m assuming you are not in an environment where the temperature is getting too hot.
