Exactly!  I would never do that to this device to quinch my curiosity.  When I was a kid, sure, I took apart record players, tape machines, and all sorts of electronics to see what was inside. I don't have one of these myself, but from what I have read and understand, they really are two separate devices.  The Hardware is the same, but the Software is totally different. My guess is that the EReader won't take the Humanware Firmware  Device as an Update at all, or if it does, it probably won't work, afterwards.
