I wonder if some dictation problems could be related to this: I have found that when I dictate a text, it works fine for me if I know what I am going to say and get on with it, no stumbling. If I need to hesitate, I double tap on my screen, even occasionally type something in, then resume dictation.
I have no problems with dictation, like the feature, rarely just use Siri for texting.
