Okay, here was the problem, of all the odd and obscure things. Under Keyboard, in the general settings, someone had turned on "split keyboard." This seems to let only half the keyboard, left or right, appear on the screen at once! I mean… SHEESH! So I found that, and managed to put in 0000 on the pad, and now I can control my pad from the Braille Edge. Sweet!
