Hi,

How do you close the item chooser if you want to get out of it if the item
you are looking for is not found?

Thank you in advance in an effort to reduce traffic

Hi, Erik.
I'm a newbie to the iPod Touch so need verbosity. Thanks for this. I'll keep
it on file.

Subject: how to use the item chooser, complete instructions

Hi, Here are complete instructions for the item chooser.
The item chooser lists and filters all items on the screen and is most
useful on web pages or apps with large lists of content.
To open the item chooser, do a double finger tripple tap, or press space
plus I on a braille display, or control option I on a bluetooth keyboard.
The contents of the screen will display as a list with a search box on top.
This search box should auto focus and allow you to start typing a string,
but sometimes you have to double tap it to start typing depending on the
peripherals you have connected.

Slowly begin typing in the edit box. As you type each letter, focus will
return to the edit box. This is why it's a good idea to take it slow.
As you type a string, all items that don't contain that string will
disappear. For example, if you are looking for jonny appleseed, typing jon,
app, or see will find jonny appleseed.
As you type, voiceover should report the number of items left in the
chooser.
When the number is something you can live with, flick right from the search
box. This is one reason why focus is set there after each letter you type.
Another is I suppose that the screen keeps refreshing and changing and the
search box is a good point of reference.
When you find the item you want, listen for an extra beat and voiceover will
tell you where on the screen the item is located so that you can try and
find it without the item chooser next time. This is particularly useful on
the IPad which has so much real-estate that sometimes you use the item
chooser just to keep from having to grope around the screen all day.
Double tap the item and voiceover will set focus there.
you can then take whatever action is required such as double tapping if the
item is a link or a button, or read from current position if you are in the
middle of an article.

hope this helps and isn't too verbose. i'm sort'a enjoying my friday night.
:)
