Thanks, it took me a couple of minutes to figure it out but it seems to
work.
One other thing I notice is that if I install the podcasts app that Apple
has it changes the playing interface for playing podcasts I seem to lose the
ability to use the double speed option for playback.
I guess for now I'll let the computer do the downloading of my podcasts for
me instead of the phone itself.

Hi Tom,

When your iPHone is connected, find it in iTunes. Choose the Podcasts tab.
Be sure the Sync Podcasts,  check box is checked. There are combo boxes to
refine which podcasts are synced. The first has options like All Unplayed,
Most Recent Unplayed, etc. The second has the options All Podcasts and
Selected Podcasts. Set these as you want them. There is also a check box
that summarizes what you chose with these combo boxes. For example, I set
them to All Unplayed and All Podcasts, and the check box says, "All unplayed
episodes of all podcasts." Be sure it's checked. That should do it.
