Hi. Yep, I finally mastered the evil automated menu using a headset and VO at the loudest level.

I still use the standard typing mode because at least on my phone, the touch typing activates the key with the slightest press, so moving my finger around only caused the phone to make all kinds of tone noises and dial several useless keystrokes.

If you plug in headphones. The voice over volume is a lot louder.

I'll give this a shot. Sometimes the menu voice is louder than voice over, then I have to try to turn VO up without ending the call. I hope I can get
past this hurdle. <grin>

Hi Lisa,
I use standard typing.
Using a headset will let you hear what number you are on better than
speakerphone. Go to where you think the number is, then flick left or
right to go to the right number, then one finger double tap on it.
Let me know how this goes for you.

Subject: iPhone and Automated Menus

Hi, all.

I'm having great difficulty using the iPhone 5 to access automated
menus like at my bank and credit card company. I've tried using my
blue tooth keyboard, and while I can input a number and dial it from
the keyboard's numbers row, I can't use the numbers row to access the
menus like when it advises to press 1, pound, etc. the keystrokes on
the keyboard don't get passed to the menu system as long as I'm on a
call.

I've tried using touch typing, but the screen is so sensitive that I
either
press too many keys and get bounced out of the menu or transferred to a
live

person. If I use standard typing I can't seem to move around on the
keypad
quick enough to make choices, so the same thing happens.

I know I can set up numbers in my contacts and add the additional menu
choices and account numbers, but I really don't feel comfortable doing
this.

I do use the screen curtain and I'm generally very aware of who's
around when I use my phone, but I really don't feel secure including
that type of information in my contacts.

does anyone have any ideas that would make this process easier? I
know
some

people say they can do this using their Bluetooth keyboard, but I have
the Amazon Basics, and while it's awesome everyplace else, it's not
working for this particular situation.

Lisa
