I would guess it would be really tough. We have one of those new washers and driers with a digital display which shows the remaining time to completion. The units have sensors inside that determine the amount of moisture and adjust the washing machine spin cycle or the dryer's dry time as shown on the display. I'm not saying it can't be done, I'm saying that depending on the size of the read out screen would make it tough. The size of the screen on my washer and dryer is about 2 inches high and 3 long. It's a matter of moving my iPhone nearer and farther back to get a reading. It took me a long time and a patient wife to help me understand the information being given me which was a status of all the settings when all I really wanted was just how much longer.
I hope this helps give you some sort of idea of what he might be up against. I wouldn't want to give the wrong impression here. Talking Goggles is a great little app and it is very useful.
