Hi Andrew, You might want to give Talking Googles a try, this app sometimes comes up with very good and amazing OCR results when you use it in video mode.
Tap Tap See is very good for some things, but I also found that for some products it may tell you right away what it is, but not with enough detail. For example, I had some Dr. Oetker pudding packages and wanted to know if it was vanilla or chocolate. Tap Tap See very quickly identified it as Dr. Oetker Pudding, but did not tell me what kind. Digit-Eyes of course easily read the barcode and told me the exact information. In this example Digit-Eyes is easy to use since the package only has 2 sides and is about an inch longer and wider than an iPhone which makes it easy for Digit-Eyes to see the entire package from about 6 or so inches away. I find that between Tap Tap See, Talking Goggles, Digit-Eyes and VisWiz I get a useable result in most cases. I while I was able to determine the flavour using both these apps, I thought I'd have a go at using text detective to read what the rest of the label showed. However, this proved difficult. What I do is turn the bottle on its side so the label is facing up and position the phone above the label. When I tried this with text detective, I kept getting bits of words only. I'm guessing this is because the bottle is round and therefore the label curves around to follow the bottle, but was just wondering if anyone was successful in reading an entire label on a bottle just by scanning it. I do realise this must be difficult as it's not a flat surface. I haven't used text detective much and just thought I'd try this, but I guess I should stick to flat paper documents. Lol Hope everyone has a blessed day, Andrew -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the "VIPhone" Google Group.
