Hi Craig & All,

Uhhh Duh!!! (slapping myself in the head!) After giving your original message some thought, I realized that you used the term "turn on" my iPhone, not "unlock." So I completely turned off my iPhone and inserted the charging cable just into the iPhone without it being plugged into the wall outlet. Waala, the iPhone did immediately come on! I then turned off my iPhone completely and tried turning it back on using the on/off button. The Iphone does come on a bit faster when using the charger than just using the on/off button, but only by less than a minute. I have an iPhone5 with 6.1.2. I do find this to be strange, but I can't see how this would affect how the iPhone operates or could pose a problem. But then again, who knows....?

Hello, everyone.

I just purchased an iPhone 5 to replace my 3GS. If the phone is
turned off, I can turn it on by simply plugging the charging cable
into the phone's port. I don't have to press the "on/off" button, and
I don't have to plug the other end of the charging cable into a power
outlet. Do other iPhone 5s work this way? Needless to say, if I wish
to run the phone on its battery, I use the traditional way of turning
it on via the "on/off" button.

Thanks for all help.

Craig
