Hi Kevin, where have you heard that iOS has any
limits on playback speed of an audio file?
to my knowledge there are no Apple-imposed
limits on how fast you can process / play an
audio file. Some of the built-in audio classes
have limits but there are many ways to play
audio on iOS as well as decoding files yourself.
So am just wondering if you have more info on this…
Thanks so much!
Cara :)

No, as IOS has fixed limits on playback speed
and that is the one thing I worry about with regard to the new app.
It has double speed but it's not as Good as
speed 4 on the Stream which is double.

the machines performance to that of its corresponding app?

there is something about using the talking book
machine supplied by NLS that is comforting. I
like the physical buttons and the sturdy feel
of the machine. Perhaps it is just a throwback
to when I first started using talking books on
cassette... Which was a big deal back then.

do like about the new Stream is it's ability to
be recharged via a USB connector this saving
the need for yet one more recharger in the
bag. Still, it would be nice to have a talking
book handy for those times when your sitting
around with your thumb up your nose waiting for something or some one! <grin>
