Hi, I think it also depends on whether you are the kind of person who
drops things or if you have bad luck of being around people who do. For
me it's a situation with all my electronics that I rarely drop them, and
in 90% of the cases I've been able to resell my used electronics in
like-new condition. When I had the iPhone 3GS, it was my first ever
iPhone and I used the Otter Box case on it from the first day I had it
until the last day when i sold it. The guy who bought it from me was
impressed and mentioned that had I told him it was a brand new phone
which had never been used, he might have believed me. Now with the
iPhone 4S I started out with the Otter Box case for it as well but
quickly got annoyed with the design on the 4. I've said on this list
that I think Otter Box dropped the phone on that one. So, I did some
research and since I am not prone to drops and spills on my stuff and
since I want to have something which doesn't add too much bulk, I went
with the s-pattern TPU cases which I've written about here on list many
times. I think that Neil from the UK also recommended the Tech 21 TPU
cases and from what I know, those are very good as well even though I've
not actually purchased one myself.
So, bottom line, get what feels right for you. If you then come across
someone who dropped their phone and broke it and it didn't have a case,
then you can feel better that you got one for you.

I think one is living dangerously when using the iPhone without a case.
The iPhone 5 is not shatterproof!! My sighted sister had hers in a
pretty little decorative case and one drop on the driveway shattered the
glass. Luckily, she had the insurance but it still cost her $200 out of
pocket. Now she has her phone in a big, ugly Defender case like mine. I
have dropped my phone at least ten times in the last 6 months since it
is always on my person and pockets for women's clothing are not always
secure. I do not think it would have survived so well if I did not
have the defender case.
My investment in the phone is too great to take chances. As a person
with extremely limited vision the probability of my knocking the phone
to the floor is great.
It only takes that one time in a thousand when one's attention slips or
just plain bad luck. So unless you are wealthy enough to replace the
phone easily my advice is to put it in a very protective case.
I don't think putting it in a case makes it that much harder to use. I
have the defender case and the Speed Dots face cover as well.
Just my opinion.

depends on which model, some are tougher than others, and no, doubt they're
that flimsy either, but risk is risk and it's a lotof wedge on the line if
you fluff it, or drop it more specifically. And the aesthetics won't
last
long either, a big issue when trying to resell iProducts.
I have to agree with you though, they're designed to be SoooOoo deliciously
tactile as to be caressed almost sensually. Ok, maybe i'm a perve, but for
sure they are made to appeal this way.

I'm finding I love the way my iPhone 4 feels neked, but is it too risky?
Are
they really *that* fragile? I know two who do this, and am jealous of
their
bravery. What say y'all?
