Open the app, then double tap Alerts, the middle tab at the bottom of the screen, directly above the Home button. The alerts should disappear.

Double tap that to confirm you do want to delete the alerts. if sliding to the right and lifting your finger does not trigger that, try the double tap, hold and slide to the left. I have seen some developers use that passthrough.
