Hi Keith, Edge is a pre-3G standard for data speed, as is GPRS. These are data connections which work at a slower speed than 3G. I highly doubt this would make a huge difference for an app like Seeing eye which queries a server for map data, we are not talking about huge amounts of data that are passed back and forth. When I was in Thailand in April I had pretty good 3G connections in all the cities, but as soon as you were outside in the countryside it usually showed an Edge connection and things like Skype or VoIP calling in general did not work so good because the connection did not provide the necessary bandwidth for that.

I would like a monthly subscription to understand how the app works under EDGE conditions. Those seeking a free or low cost solution are really advocating for a socialist society.
