Containers are extremely useful, and should be selected to be in the rotor.

Think of containers as sections of the screen. When you set the rotor to
containers, and flick up or down, you will be taken sometimes to the other side
of the screen, as the iPad is divided into two sides of the screen in places
like contacts and settings. Sometimes containers take you through the main
parts of a piece of an email, so when you are finished reading, you can flick
up, and you will arrive at the all inboxes button with a few upward flicks,
instead of having to left flick through the entire email to get there.

I hope this is helpful. Just go into settings, or email, and set the rotor to
containers, then try it out. I use them all of the time, and it is a great
time-saver.
