I was able to get to this setting by
* following the link at the end of the message
http://groups.google.com/group/viphone?hl=en
* making sure I was logged on with the same account I used to subscribe
to the list
* clicking on the members link
* clicking on the my settings button
* clicking on the membership and email settings
* and finally changing to don't send email updates.
Note that the email address viphone+ow...@googlegroups.com is now in the
footer for every message. I used it the other day, and it didn't work,
so I let the moderator know. Note too that the moderator and owner post
regularly to this list, so it isn't hard to drop them a message directly.
