I have found that speeds vary significantly as to the time of day and how busy the net is at the moment. Just before writing this message, (it is about 7 pm, so it probably is a busier time for cellular service), I ran speed test, and my download speed is a little over 10 megabit, my upload speed is slightly over 4 meg. I have seen my download speed as high as 18 megabit, and my upload speed as high as 12 megabit. Although I know it varies from time to time, I am somewhat skeptical about these speed test programs anyway.I am on Verizon LTE, which is their 4g.
As for how much data I use in a month, I mainly do web surfing, some emailing, and listening to the radio or streaming audio. The month I had my phone before I set up my wifi connection, I used a little over 600 meg. That is the most I have ever used, even though I pay for 2 gig. I think the big consumer of data is video, I don't stream much of that, except occasionally streaming something from YouTube. I always wait to download large files for when I am at my wifi connection. I just got off the phone with T-MOBILE. I asked the person what upload and download speed I could expect with 4G. She didn't know, so I'm asking on the list. I got this nice mobile hot spot that I can link to with my PC over WI-FI, and I was able to listen to a 128 KB stream with Winamp. This leads me to another question. I have a plan that gives me up to 4.5 GB with the device. If I go over this my speed is slowed down. What speed is this slower speed? I won't be watching movies on the device, it will mainly be used to listen to music while traveling, and I might do some netcasts with it when I'm out of a WI-FI network range. Thanks in advance for any info. GO REDS and GO BENGALS! Kevin Minor, Lexington, KY kmi...@windstream.net -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the "VIPhone" Google Group.
