Hello Jim. I've had great success using the Kindle app. They've done a terrific job of making it possible to read KINDLE books. You have to buy the books using the web site and need to register the app with your amazon account. You do that in the settings. The button for getting at those is right on the home screen of the app. Once that's done, any books you purchase will be delivered to your iPHONE. The next time you open the app and you're online, the books will automatically be downloaded. You can switch between books on your device or in the cloud. Rather than restart the app to get a new book onto your iPHONE, you can select the cloud button and then refresh the library with a three-finger downward swipe. After that, find the new book by flicking left and right until you come to it and then double-tapping it. The book should then download. The next time you double-tap it the book should open.
Reading the books is pretty easy. It gives you basic instructions and there's more help available from the settings in the frequently asked questions. The only tricky part is the table of contents. You can't flick through chapters like you ought to be able to. Instead, when on the table of contents, move your finger around until you come to the chapter you want and double-tap on it. Sometimes, the table won't all fit on one page and you'll have to use a three-finger sideways swipe to get to more of the table of contents. As far as I can tell, it's utterly impossible to use a table of contents from the PC. The iPHONE makes it at least possible if a bit clunky.should On 8/19/13, Russ Kiehne <russ94...@gmail.com> wrote: > And here's another great podcast on using the Kindle app > http://www.applevis.com/sites/default/files/podcasts/applevispodcast386.mp3 > > > -----Original Message----- > From: Ann Byrne > Sent: Monday, August 19, 2013 3:53 AM > To: viphone@googlegroups.com > Subject: Re: Kindle App and books? > > There is a great podcast on using the Kindle app at > * www.dr-carter.com/?m=201305 > > -- > You received this message because you are subscribed to the "VIPhone" Google > > Group. > > Post a new message to VIPhone by emailing viphone@googlegroups.com. > > Search and view the VIPhone archives by visiting > http://www.mail-archive.com/viphone@googlegroups.com/. > > Reach the VIPhone owner and moderators by emailing > viphone+ow...@googlegroups.com. > > Unsubscribe and leave VIPhone by emailing > viphone+unsubscr...@googlegroups.com. > > More VIPhone group options can be found by visiting > http://groups.google.com/group/viphone?hl=en. > --- > You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups > "VIPhone" group. > To unsubscribe from this group and stop receiving emails from it, send an > email to viphone+unsubscr...@googlegroups.com. > For more options, visit https://groups.google.com/groups/opt_out. > > -- > You received this message because you are subscribed to the "VIPhone" Google > Group. > -- Michael Feir Volunteer at The Dam http://www.thedam.org 2011-- Twitter: mfeir Skype: michael-feir Author of Personal Power: How Accessible Computers Can Enhance Personal Life For Blind People 2006-2008 http://michaelfeir.blogspot.ca/2009/01/personal-power.html A Life of Word and Sound 2003-2007 http://michaelfeir.blogspot.ca/2009/01/life-of-word-and-sound.html Creator and former editor of Audyssey Magazine 1996-2004 Check out my blog at: http://www.michaelfeir.blogspot.ca -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the "VIPhone" Google Group.
