Hi Rob, I can confirm from my own experience that you can cut a standard SIM to the size of a Micro SIM and it works just fine, I have had it done with an AT&T Go Phone prepaid SIM which I bought, I had somebody cut it for me and it fit into my 4S just fine and worked.
