Hi Rob, While thinking about this a bit... Apple may have worked around this by allowing just the slightest delay when executing the finger strokes used to handwrite an upper case letter E or letter T. That is, similar to how a double-tap work, the faster you execute the double-tap, the more likely you are to launch an app. If you want to double-tap, and if you wait too long, the double-tap will be registered as a single tap. This same tiny delay is probably used to register letters that necessitate the lifting of one's fingers off of the screen. ...Just thinking out loud. <Smile>.
