i just updated my iphone 4 with the new IOS 7. It takes a long time because its a complelety new layout and display system. To get the best update installation with out any errors. Go to your itunes on your desktop. Plug your device into the PC, or LAptop. Load Itunes up and go to your device option and click, "update Device". It will then tell you that there is a software update for your device but you need the latest Itunes 11.1 version before installing IOS7 which came out this week. Also include install of ICLOUD control app as this also is a new feature for your desktop and phone or ipad or ipod touch 4g, or 5g. Once all installed it will prompt you to restart computer or laptop, so do this. Once restarted load up itunes, click on your device click update again and it will download the 647mb file and start installing the software to your phone ot ipad. Once it takes effect the device you are updating will go through a 20-25 mins apple cycle of preparing the new install of the software, be patient, cos when done, the old IOS6 black welcome screen has now turned into a nice bright white and grey shades of menus with much better operating system with loads of extra new features and options and better interactive menus.
