In settings in the bard app there is a button that's marked use cellular
data and it says it's off. When your not connected to a WI-FI network, you
can double tap this button even in the middle of nowhere and download a
book. Of course, the download will be subtracted from your data limit. I
get 2 GB a month and don't come anywhere near that but I do appreciate
having that choice.

If you have a WIFI connection, then it will use this connection to
download your books first. Cellullar data is only used when a WIFI
connection is not available.

By default the BARD app will only download books via wifi.
You can chage this in your account settings on the BARD app.
