Hi Shane, In order to upgrade you have to first remove any Jailbreaks. I am not a Jailbreaker and can't give you the details, but that is what Rob from the Today in iOS podcast always warns people about.
I don't see why you can't connect your iPad with another PC/iTunes, if you potentially don't mind losing everything on it anyways, then it shouldn't matter.
