Sean, it is interesting that, since I first saw these messages and responded, I have been seeing the "timed out" message, too. But, I get it when I start a book playing. Not every time, but many times when I pause and then tap play I will get it.
I wonder if they might have cut server capacity to keep some running. Not sure why I would have any server contact when I am in the middle of a downloaded book, though. The best!
