Dear List are there any voice assistant alternatives that people would
recommend . Siri is fine but I don't particularly like the voice. Is siri
better than third party options? Also is it possible to buy better voices
for voice over say you get some with voice dream reader can you get voice
over to use these instead of the native voices ? For me vo isn't human
enough for e-books.

Many Thanks, Lee ,

Subject: Re: Kindle app

It is a book, not a recording. Two finger flick up starts VO reading from
the top of the current page, and automatically changes pages during reading.
Two finger flick down starts reading from the current cursor location on the
page. Moving a finger slowly up and down the display has VO read the line
under the finger. Three finger flick left advances the book one page at a
time. Three finger flick right goes back one page at a time. Double-tap the
display with one finger to bring up the menu. From here, one can move to a
different location in the book, go back to the library, and so forth.
Because reading is being done by VoiceOver, turn the rotor to speech rate to
change the reading speed.

Now for my brief rant. Though apps like Voice Dream Reader are nice (I have
it and occasionally use it myself), the message I am replying to quite well
demonstrates the problem with having a play button, fast forward, and
rewind, for a text file. People can and do get confused between reading a
book using speech, and listening to a recording. Kindle, iBooks, Kobo, Nook,
Read2Go, and even Voice Dream Reader, are all apps for reading text files
using speech. On the other hand, BARD Mobile, Audible, Any internet
broadcast listening app, YouTube, Music, and so forth, are audio or
audio/video playback apps. Their function is substantively different as they
play audio or AV files.

while. I downloaded a book. I cannot remember how to fast forward, rewind,
and things like that. I know how to make the book play, but that's about all
I can do. Also, how can ice be the speech up.
