I also want to add to this that some codes aren't going to work. For instance, 
we order spices from a catalog and have them shipped. I scanned one such 
container, and the code was found, but VO said nothing and the app kept 
scanning. I had a sighted person look at things, and it turns out that the code 
is used for packing and not as a final item identifier. What you get from a 
store should usually work, but it seems that some places use packing and 
sorting codes if you order items from warehouses like we do those spices. Red 
Laser does not report this to VO, though, and there's just a quick note on the 
type of code found that disappears after a few seconds. So, if you get a beep 
but nothing else happens, it may well be the wrong type of code.
