The other work around if you want to get to the top of the same search is to simply double-tap on the search field so it says "editing" and then double-tap on the search button in the bottom right again. I just tried that and it worked since nothing else does. I thought the double-tap in the status bar might work, but it didn't. Writing accessibility at apple next.
