I do have the app and also an Amazon Prime account. I just checked to
make sure and the answer is yes. I was able to play a movie from my
watch list via AirPlay to my apple TV. No problems whatsoever.

Most definitely. You can stream anything that will use AirPlay. In the case of
an IOS 7 device if a particular app doesn't have a specific AirPlay button, you
can activate AirPlay from the control center.
