On my 5C you don't even have time to raise your finger before it zips- all the way to the end of the range. Will try the dock method instead.

In iOS 5, Apple slowed it down too much. Now, Apple sped page change up again, but has added spoken announcement of each page before changing to the next page. If you lift your finger when you hear the page you want, the app will stop on that page. That said, some people find it easier to move the app into the doc, change to the page they want the app on, and move the app out of the dock onto the new page.
